An unexpectedly hard shot by Torcato Rebocho in the 8th minute of play forced Gremio Viana's goalkeeper Samuel Fiúza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Samuel Fiúza came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Garanhão do SUL's Edgar Costa. But to his dismay, Edgar Costa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Joaquim Paredes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ignatius Casasola having to make a save. Garanhão do SUL's Ignatius Casasola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim Paredes in the 16th minute of play. Samuel Fiúza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Roriz in the 18th minute of play. Ignatius Casasola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquim Paredes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aloísio Garcez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Fiúza having to interfere. Ignatius Casasola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Paredes in the 31st minute of play. Joaquim Paredes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ignatius Casasola having to make a save. Ignatius Casasola showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Paredes, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 38th minute, Joaquim Paredes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tony Påk hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. 46 minutes into the match, Joaquim Paredes notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Garanhão do SUL's Ignatius Casasola. Ignatius Casasola was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edgar Costa made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Joaquim Paredes made a precise shot to the right of Ignatius Casasola. Garanhão do SUL's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. In the 56th minute Akis Kefallinos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Fiúza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Gremio Viana's Joaquim Paredes in the 59th minute got a chance for a shot 59th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Samuel Fiúza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albano Leizarraga in the 86th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Garanhão do SUL's zone, Carlos Luna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ignatius Casasola came out of the goal and Carlos Luna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gremio Viana's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
