SC Freiburg 09's Mehmet Ferit İsmet was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Vito de Godoi in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 7th minute Júlio Gentil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivo Guterres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vito de Godoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raul Leal in the 9th minute of the match. Ivo Guterres came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Matos Velhos's Henrique Candal. But to his dismay, Henrique Candal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 21st minute, Raul Leal left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Freiburg 09 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Raul Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ivo Guterres stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sabino Vilhena's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. The audience was convinced that Sabino Vilhena's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ivo Guterres was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. SC Freiburg 09's Ivo Guterres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henrique Candal in the 30th minute of play. Vito de Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nuno Bragança in the 32nd minute of play. Nuno Bragança's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vito de Godoi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. But to his dismay, Adalberto Peres quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. The supporters of Matos Velhos booed when SC Freiburg 09 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raul Leal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ivo Guterres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sabino Vilhena in the 45th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sabino Vilhena in the 47th minute of play forced SC Freiburg 09's goalkeeper Ivo Guterres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Matos Velhos were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Raul Leal was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Matos Velhos's zone, Nuno Bragança stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vito de Godoi came out of the goal and Nuno Bragança tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vito de Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abílio Passos in the 53rd minute of play. 54 minutes into the match, Matos Velhos's goal looked a bit too open when Raul Leal came free, but Vito de Godoi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 57 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 09's goal looked a bit too open when Júlio Gentil came free, but Ivo Guterres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 58 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 09's goalkeeper Ivo Guterres had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Henrique Candal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sabino Vilhena in the 60th minute of play forced SC Freiburg 09's goalkeeper Ivo Guterres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vito de Godoi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of SC Freiburg 09 booed when Matos Velhos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Domingos Palmeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Matos Velhos eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
