Leal Simões made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armando Meireles in the 24th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Exército Português's goalkeeper Laurențiu Gaciu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zoltán Tálas. After having played for 30 minutes, Armando Meireles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Exército Português's supporters crossed their fingers, but Armando Meireles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 31st minute of the match, Zoltán Tálas got a very nice opportunity to score, but Laurențiu Gaciu was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Leal Simões made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Soveral in the 32nd minute of play. Laurențiu Gaciu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cássio Calçada, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cássio Calçada in the 36th minute of play forced Exército Português's goalkeeper Laurențiu Gaciu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A nice corner shot did that Gustavo Carrasqueira got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Leal Simões quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 45 minutes into the match, Exército Português's goalkeeper Laurențiu Gaciu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zoltán Tálas. The referee felt a red card was in order, 47 minutes into the game, when Lech Trynda put in a rough tackle. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Armando Meireles made a kick off. Bruno Soveral who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 54thth minute tested the skills of Leal Simões when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Laurențiu Gaciu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cássio Calçada, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Exército Português's Laurențiu Gaciu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zoltán Tálas in the 93rd minute of play. Cássio Calçada received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Laurențiu Gaciu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
