After 7 played minutes, SC Braga's Valdomiro Lira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Miguel Marin came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SC Braga reached it. Miguel Marin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 11th minute of the match. Miguel Marin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 14th minute Zigmantas Gimbutas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Marin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Miguel Marin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 36thth minute of the game Meng Di Jun who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Braga's Antonio Adán was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Quintino Carvalhais's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Miguel Marin was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. 44 minutes into the game, Isac Bomba was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Dezassete's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Braga the free kick. Isac Bomba kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match.

The supporters of FC Dezassete booed when SC Braga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. André Jordão didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Dezassete's supporters rose to their feet, but Branco Tinto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Antonio Adán breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stig-Åke Mattsson in the 92nd minute of play forced FC Dezassete's goalkeeper Miguel Marin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Antonio Cieri got free with Miguel Marin in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Amado Parente kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched SC Braga eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
