The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Santos Campineiro's Ahmad Reza Asadi did a great save. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Onuralp Ergüden sent off a good shot on target. Ahmad Reza Asadi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 31st minute of play. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ahmad Reza Asadi having to interfere. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edgar Pitta hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Santos Campineiro made a substitution. Maicon da Silva replaced Geronimo Raebert. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sidney Albuquerque stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 55th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ahmad Reza Asadi could save by the left post. Ahmad Reza Asadi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 57th minute. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidnei Baptista in the 59th minute of play. Felix Montenegro in the 63rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ahmad Reza Asadi, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Felix Montenegro hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. 76 minutes into the match, Santos Campineiro's Sidnei Baptista sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Santos Campineiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgar Pitta didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sidnei Baptista in the 86th minute of play. Edgar Pitta tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Ahmad Reza Asadi. An unnecessary self made goal, 0-1 in the 89th minute. Ahmad Reza Asadi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Santos Campineiro throughout the match.
