An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Budín in the 22nd minute of play forced KIRIKKALESPOR's goalkeeper Raoul Boehnke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raoul Boehnke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernando Rivera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute, Edgardo Montxo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 39th minute Fernando Rivera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raoul Boehnke saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 42 minutes, Paul Caniggia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the KIRIKKALESPOR and the Lithuanian amber players grew even worse after the yellow card.
