The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jean-Philippe Contal didn't get a good kick on the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Cellule's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Jean-Charles Sauvaget reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean-Charles Sauvaget having to interfere. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Serge Vielle tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Cellule's Serge Vielle slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 2-0 after 19 minutes of play. Jean-Charles Sauvaget took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cellule's Jean-Charles Sauvaget played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 27th minute of play. Cellule's Serge Vielle got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 32 minutes into the match, Cellule's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Jean-Charles Sauvaget reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Adil Albrecht's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jean-Philippe Contal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 57th match minute, Cellule was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jean-Philippe Contal to maneuver through the defense. If Jean-Philippe Contal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 70 minutes into the match, Cellule's goalkeeper Jean-Charles Sauvaget had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jean-Charles Sauvaget. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Cellule's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jean-Charles Sauvaget came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jean-Charles Sauvaget made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 81st minute of play. Jean-Charles Sauvaget made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Montenegro in the 84th minute. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jean-Charles Sauvaget in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. David Rousselet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 92 minutes into the match, Cellule's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Jean-Charles Sauvaget reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
