The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Província's Paulo Caneças played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Costa in the 14th minute of play. After 17 played minutes Província got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Caneças. 22 minutes into the game, Vice Alilović recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. Vice Alilović showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Paulo Caneças didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. In the 27th minute, Pedro Caneças hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulo Caneças saved Província from getting behind. 36 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Venezuela's Tomas Illescas fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Sebastián Dikaté in the 37thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Pedro Caneças kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 41st minute of play forced Província's goalkeeper Paulo Caneças to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Camilo Gaos during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Província booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gaos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Província's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gregório Pepetela in the 48th minute.

Província were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Venezuela for a fine match.
