An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 8th minute of play forced Província's goalkeeper Paulo Caneças to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Província was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arlindo Bueno didn't get a good kick on the ball. Evaristo Ramos hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Felix Montes charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Daniel Zorita kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sebastián Dikaté. A collision led to Província getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Gregório Pepetela hit a great ball. In the 33rd minute, Gregório Pepetela hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 34th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Sebastián Puig to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Flavio Melo sent off a good shot on target. Paulo Caneças made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 44th minute of play. Evaristo Ramos charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Evaristo Ramos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Paulo Caneças came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paulo Caneças. Paulo Caneças dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. The audience was convinced that Sebastián Dikaté's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sebastián Dikaté in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Paulo Caneças showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 59th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 61stth minute tested the skills of Paulo Caneças when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastián Dikaté in the 63rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vice Alilović in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Vice Alilović's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. In the 66th minute, Gregório Pepetela hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 71 minutes into the match, Vice Alilović had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vice Alilović was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. In the 76th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paulo Caneças made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 79th minute. In the 80th minute of the match, Felix Montenegro got a very nice opportunity to score, but Paulo Caneças was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vice Alilović in the 86th minute of play. After 88 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. Vice Alilović kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match.
