Valdis Felbergs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Viesturs Pilāns in the 14th minute of the match. In the 15th minute of the match FC Iecēni got a corner. Black horses's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gints Lielgalvis ran over to the corner to take the kick. FC Iecēni's Gints Lielgalvis was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Valdis Felbergs in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A collision led to FC Iecēni getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Olafs Buncis hit a great ball. Genaro Ponciano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cipriano Sauveur, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Toma Chinkov kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. After having played for 21 minutes, Gints Lielgalvis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Iecēni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gints Lielgalvis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Genaro Ponciano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cipriano Sauveur's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. FC Iecēni's Genaro Ponciano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cipriano Sauveur in the 32nd minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, FC Iecēni's Viesturs Pilāns sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Valdis Felbergs narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the FC Iecēni defense, Cipriano Sauveur kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Genaro Ponciano. The FC Iecēni fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Genaro Ponciano should have stopped the shot. Black horses's Jakub Swierczok got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Black horses's attentive Joakim Kämpe managed to snatch the ball when Marek Hamšík made a throw-in in the 46th minute of the game. A collision led to FC Iecēni getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Olafs Buncis hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Viesturs Pilāns stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Black horses would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
