The crowd rose to their feet as Asdrubal Prieto kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dante Lacasa. That made the score 1-0 in the 18 minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, Atlético de Sagunto's goal looked a bit too open when Facundo Cadaval came free, but Zenon Suarez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Macos Graciani in the 23rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Atlético de Sagunto's Quico Bargas. The audience was convinced that Asdrubal Prieto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Lacasa was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Atlético de Sagunto's Asdrubal Prieto was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dante Lacasa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 46th minute, Quico Bargas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joel Gaona made a kick off. Atlético de Sagunto's Zenon Suarez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Atlético de Sagunto from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Atlético de Sagunto's Marc Cucurull got a free kick in the 55th minute. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Lorenzo Cazalla got a free kick in the 58th minute. Grant Cabezon ran back to his position shaking his head. 78 minutes into the match, Atlético de Sagunto's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Zenon Suarez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Asdrubal Prieto in the 80th minute of play. A throw-in in the 82nd minute of the game was made by Macos Graciani with Alberto Tafalla as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. 84 minutes into the match, Grant Cabezon had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Grant Cabezon was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 91st minute of play forced Atlético de Sagunto's goalkeeper Zenon Suarez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 94 minutes, Grant Cabezon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético de Sagunto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Grant Cabezon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 96 played minutes Atlético de Sagunto got a freekick which was hit by Apolinar Figueroa. With a little luck, Atlético de Sagunto's Zenon Suarez got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Atlético de Sagunto were victorious despite being under pressure from Mexico for much of the match.
