An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgilio Arotza in the 15th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Silvestre Fidencio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Club A Independiente's Silvestre Fidencio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 21st minute of play. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Silvestre Fidencio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Club A Independiente's Silvestre Fidencio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 42nd minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silvestre Fidencio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 56 minutes into the match, Club A Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Silvestre Fidencio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Costel Zglobiu in the 60th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Silvestre Fidencio in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 62th minute after Club A Independiente's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Silvestre Fidencio quite easily take care of the ball. Clément Barton kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Virgilio Arotza in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 68thth minute of the game Virgilio Arotza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Silvestre Fidencio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 71 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Costel Zglobiu came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Silvestre Fidencio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Silvestre Fidencio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 85th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Gogo Merexildo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Silvestre Fidencio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 91st minute of play. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Club A Independiente were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
