The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Merceron United booed when Toronto United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gösta Enegren didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniele Bucciarelli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abraham Fitzgerald, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. A collision led to Toronto United getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Gösta Enegren hit a great ball. Daniele Bucciarelli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lou Walker in the 13th minute of play. Kauã Paranaense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dinei Fernandez, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Kauã Paranaense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edoardo Pascucci, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 22 minutes into the match, Merceron United's goal looked a bit too open when Abraham Fitzgerald came free, but Daniele Bucciarelli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniele Bucciarelli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Eleazar in the 31st minute of play. Dinei Fernandez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 39th minute Merceron United were awarded a corner. Milosz Waselenczuk went to the cornerflag to take it. 41 minutes into the match, Toronto United's goal looked a bit too open when Edoardo Pascucci came free, but Kauã Paranaense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Edoardo Pascucci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kauã Paranaense was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Edoardo Pascucci took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Kauã Paranaense to make any attempt to save it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dinei Fernandez made a kick off. Abraham Fitzgerald hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Dinei Fernandez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Kauã Paranaense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Merceron United's Daniele Bucciarelli got control of the ball when Lou Walker tried to sneak it across the goal line. Merceron United's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Lou Walker 58 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Toronto United's Kauã Paranaense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dinei Fernandez in the 62nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edoardo Pascucci in the 63rd minute of play forced Toronto United's goalkeeper Kauã Paranaense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 66th minute Dinei Fernandez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kauã Paranaense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Merceron United's defense didn't have a chance, in the 72nd minute, when Abraham Fitzgerald scored to the left of an out of position Daniele Bucciarelli, making the score, 1-2. In the 75th minute, Edoardo Pascucci made a precise shot to the right of Kauã Paranaense. Toronto United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. In the 79th minute, Dinei Fernandez made a precise shot to the right of Kauã Paranaense. Toronto United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. In the 82nd minute, Dinei Fernandez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kauã Paranaense was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Merceron United fans cheered their team off the field, for while Toronto United had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
