Dinei Fernandez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hendrik van Eijnde read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. Hincha Pelotas FC's Hendrik van Eijnde proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Hincha Pelotas FC from getting a goal against them. In the 9th minute of the game Biagio Donadoni made a throw-in which Jan Gamza played forward. If Dinei Fernandez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hendrik van Eijnde made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Dinei Fernandez sent off a good shot on target. Hendrik van Eijnde showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edoardo Pascucci in the 23rd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dinei Fernandez got free with Hendrik van Eijnde in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Dinei Fernandez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dinei Fernandez to strike the kick off in the second half. Merceron United were awarded a corner in the 54th minute after Hincha Pelotas FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Milosz Waselenczuk took the corner. After taking down the ball on Merceron United's corner Milosz Waselenczuk fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Hendrik van Eijnde quite easily take care of the ball. In the 60thth minute of the game Dinei Fernandez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hincha Pelotas FC's Hendrik van Eijnde was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Hincha Pelotas FC's Hendrik van Eijnde played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Lusi in the 63rd minute of play. After 66 played minutes Hincha Pelotas FC got a freekick which was hit by Urtsin Murueta. 71 minutes into the match, Hincha Pelotas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dinei Fernandez came free, but Hendrik van Eijnde reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Dinei Fernandez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 74th minute, Felix Yecora hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hendrik van Eijnde stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dinei Fernandez's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. Dinei Fernandez scored 4-1 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hendrik van Eijnde, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 95th minute Dinei Fernandez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hendrik van Eijnde saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Merceron United fully deserved thier win.
