Dante Lacasa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. When Luca Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luca Zorita couldn't finish the play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 92 minutes into the match, Fielzão's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Carlos Eduardo Aparecido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luca Zorita's late challenge caught a Fielzão's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luca Zorita helped the player get up and apologised. After 96 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Luca Zorita. 97 minutes in the game, Carlos Augusto Vasconcelos dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Mexico were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Fielzão to leave the ground with a draw.
