In the 9th minute of the match, Dudu Neļķis tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gyula Grosics saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With a little luck, CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's Gyula Grosics got control of the ball when Elói Nogueira tried to sneak it across the goal line. TROMBETA DO APOCALIPSE MG's Luisão Simões played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reynaldo Zanette in the 12th minute of play. CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's Gyula Grosics proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA from getting a goal against them. Gyula Grosics didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dênis Gomes went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 17th minute Washington Furtado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisão Simões saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gyula Grosics made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Dênis Gomes sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA booed when TROMBETA DO APOCALIPSE MG was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno da Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vivaldo Pitta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Gyula Grosics tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After recieving a nice pass, TROMBETA DO APOCALIPSE MG's Dudu Neļķis tried to score from far away in the 33rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 38 minutes into the match, TROMBETA DO APOCALIPSE MG's Elói Nogueira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gyula Grosics narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Elói Nogueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bruno da Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gyula Grosics having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Elói Nogueira in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gyula Grosics prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dudu Neļķis in the 66th minute of play forced CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's goalkeeper Gyula Grosics to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of TROMBETA DO APOCALIPSE MG booed when CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinei Monteiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. TROMBETA DO APOCALIPSE MG's Dudu Neļķis couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 71st minute. Dênis Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elói Nogueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
