In the 19th minute João Francisco Madureira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evaristo Siqueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patrick Vergílio's late challenge caught a Floripa Lions FSCMZ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Patrick Vergílio helped the player get up and apologised. In the 20th minute, Patrick Vergílio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eusébio Toledo hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Gyula Grosics made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mathias Gaúcho in the 25th minute of play. Mathias Gaúcho struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Gyula Grosics didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Floripa Lions FSCMZ.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luciano Batista was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Floripa Lions FSCMZ's Erik Schmidt got a free kick in the 58th minute. If Raúl Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luciano Batista in the 62nd minute of play forced CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's goalkeeper Gyula Grosics to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Luciano Batista had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gyula Grosics. CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luciano Batista was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1.
