When David Lima fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mamutes EC's protests and gave David Lima a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Mamutes EC's David Lima got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Marcinho Fonseca was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Leopoldo Sanches. 44 minutes into the game, Carlos Augusto de Lima was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mamutes EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave S.E.R. Caxias do Sul the free kick. Carlos Augusto de Lima kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ladislao Mazurkiewicz made a kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Mamutes EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natã Sanches to maneuver through the defense. After 55 played minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Luizão Prata. David Lima took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 56th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gianluigi Donnarumma. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Remo Valle kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. In the 93rd minute Bola Forte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gianluigi Donnarumma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mamutes EC were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing S.E.R. Caxias do Sul to leave the ground with a draw.
