João Vítor Ferreira might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gyula Grosics. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. João Vítor Ferreira ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Washington Furtado in the 21st minute of play forced Castanheiro SC's goalkeeper Doni Seco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If João Vítor Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gyula Grosics showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Vítor Ferreira in the 26th minute of the match. The Castanheiro SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marcelo Eger was the one to do the kick off. Breno Albuquerque's late challenge caught a Castanheiro SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Through an outstanding action, after 95 minutes, Gyula Grosics successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Marcelo Eger who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 98thth minute tested the skills of Gyula Grosics when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Castanheiro SC played a much better game than CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA and deserved their victory. The CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
