Mamutes EC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Magno Correia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Valdemar Tepedino went, in the 7th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 10 minutes into the match, Mamutes EC's goal looked a bit too open when Henrique Borges came free, but Magno Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13th minute of the match Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ got a corner. Mamutes EC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Naldo Valladares ran over to the corner to take the kick. With an all-out effort, Mamutes EC's Hansjörg Wastl threw himself towards the right post 14 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Valério Meireles, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 20 minutes into the game, Dave Panno cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Hansjörg Wastl was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hansjörg Wastl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valério Meireles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dave Panno had several of the Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 35 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-1 score and a disappointed Hansjörg Wastl as he didn't even see the shot coming.
