An unexpectedly hard shot by Jens-Ove Malm in the 27th minute of play forced Marquês de Herval's goalkeeper Dida Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 44th minute of the game Jon Grøneng made a throw-in which German Cano played forward. After the first half Rio Verde F.C CIMZ were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Rio Verde F.C CIMZ's Amauri Félix played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nestor Paraibano in the 62nd minute of play. Amauri Félix showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredo Martins in the 65th minute of the match.
