Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julian Murillo in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Qiu Zhi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 16 minutes had been played when some careless play by SILMONT's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. In the 19th minute of the match Peru got a corner. SILMONT's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 21st minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Qiu Zhi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thomas Albaret, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Peru's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luz Tejedor in the 31st minute. The corner ended in Eliseo Mina almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but SILMONT's Qiu Zhi did a great save. After a defensive mix-up in Peru's zone, Thomas Albaret stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Noboa came out of the goal and Thomas Albaret tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 41st minute of play forced SILMONT's goalkeeper Qiu Zhi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute Martial Haas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Martial Haas could shoot a difficult shot in the 47th minute, which Rolando Noboa however easily saved by the left post. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Qiu Zhi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 52nd minute of the match. If Eliseo Mina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Peru booed when SILMONT was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Freddy Escudié didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Peru getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Joaquin Prats hit a great ball. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martial Haas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Qiu Zhi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 74th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ryan Monvoisin during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 89th match minute, SILMONT was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ryan Monvoisin to maneuver through the defense. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor.
