Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Julian Murillo started the match with the kick off. 5 minutes had been played when some careless play by Várzea F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. Milagros Fraga made a great header on Peru's corner, it was just that Várzea F.C.'s Carlos Augusto Quintal managed to reach the ball for a save. Várzea F.C.'s Carlos Augusto Quintal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Moises Gayoso in the 11th minute of play. Jude Monkhouse scored 1-0 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rolando Noboa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Várzea F.C.'s Carlos Augusto Quintal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Milagros Fraga in the 17th minute of play. Luz Tejedor made a great header on Peru's corner, it was just that Várzea F.C.'s Carlos Augusto Quintal managed to reach the ball for a save. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jude Monkhouse in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th match minute, Várzea F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jesus Eusko to maneuver through the defense. Carlos Augusto Quintal came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Luz Tejedor. But to his dismay, Luz Tejedor quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 36 minutes into the match, Várzea F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Carlos Augusto Quintal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 38 minutes Várzea F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. Joaquin Prats kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Delmiro Licerio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Julian Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jude Monkhouse to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Anderson Paiva ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rolando Noboa was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Alf Tennenbaum hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Moises Gayoso. After 60 minutes Várzea F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Milagros Fraga got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Carlos Augusto Quintal quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Peru's Eliseo Mina got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Delmiro Licerio, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Várzea F.C.'s Dé Montenegro was substituted for Jude Monkhouse. Carlos Augusto Quintal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 75th minute Anderson Paiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Augusto Quintal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dé Montenegro in the 80th minute of the match. Eliseo Mina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Carlos Augusto Quintal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. If Rafael Gallo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Várzea F.C.'s Valdomiro Duarte was substituted for Delmiro Licerio. In the 90th minute, Peru's Rafael Gallo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Carlos Augusto Quintal. Carlos Augusto Quintal yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Várzea F.C.'s goalie and right to Eliseo Mina. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Várzea F.C.'s manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Peru had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
