In the 6th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sandalio Domingo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 7 minutes ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Ecuador's Felix Montes to a score. 0-1 in the 7th minute. In the 11th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sandalio Domingo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 12 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Sandalio Domingo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 15 minutes into the match, ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ's Tibalt Tanasio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 20th minute, Felix Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ibar Revuelta kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Tibalt Tanasios short, quick shot in the 30thth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sandalio Domingo having to make a save. 36 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ's Sandalio Domingo. Sandalio Domingo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Ecuador booed when ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tibalt Tanasio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sandalio Domingo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. After 47 played minutes ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ got a freekick which was hit by Zorion Arraña. After 48 played minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sandalio Domingo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tibalt Tanasio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sandalio Domingo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 51st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. After having played for 57 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sandalio Domingo stood somewhat misplaced when Daniel Zorita came free in front of goal and shot 0-8 to the left of him in the 63 minute. After a rather tough play, ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ's Nicanor Bajuelo got a free kick in the 66th minute. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Sandalio Domingo made a huge save. When Hechter Trinidad fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ's protests and gave Hechter Trinidad a yellow card for diving instead. Hechter Trinidad kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. 76 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sandalio Domingo. ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-9. In the 79th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-10. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Sandalio Domingo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sandalio Domingo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 94th minute. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. The ꜱᴀᴊʀᴀꜱ ꜰᴄ fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
