In the 9th match minute, Avel Vat was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sébastien Milliot to maneuver through the defense. Patricio Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Danny Pasquier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patricio Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Danny Pasquier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 18th minute of the match. A nice corner shot did that Youri Djorkaeff got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jonathan Ferrant quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Youri Djorkaeff stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Youri Djorkaeff tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Danny Pasquier prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 39th minute. Guillaume Minier was extremely unlucky when he, in the 43rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Rigoberto Mina hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Youri Djorkaeff made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rdth minute of the game Youri Djorkaeff who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Danny Pasquier. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Danny Pasquier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 60th minute Geoffrey Estienne suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Jose Correa charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 61st minute. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Avel Vat was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bilal Moutte didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guillaume Minier in the 68th minute of play. When Edmond Kubiak came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Avel Vat fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmond Kubiak couldn't finish the play. After 71 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gaos. In the 76th minute Avel Vat were awarded a corner. Youri Djorkaeff went to the cornerflag to take it. When Avel Vat's Youri Djorkaeff in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Venezuela's goalie prevented a goal. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Danny Pasquier having to make a save. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Youri Djorkaeff's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. Guillaume Minier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Avel Vat walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
