After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Águilas Poblanas's Matias Eder proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Águilas Poblanas from getting a goal against them. After having played for 59 minutes, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 62 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Justo Sagrario came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Matias Eder didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. Matias Eder was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Matias Eder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 85th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-7. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 94 minutes play.
