Cavaliers FC's Cornelio Villegas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hugo Guerra in the 12th minute of play. Cornelio Villegas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hugo Guerra in the 14th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ambrosio Iratxo in the 16th minute of play forced Spartans FC's goalkeeper Haroldas Strazdas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Haroldas Strazdas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastián Villa in the 25th minute of play. 35 minutes into the game, Edgar San Juan threw the ball into play from the sideline. Cavaliers FC's Rodrigo Etor quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After a rather tough play, Cavaliers FC's Damian Jordy got a free kick in the 36th minute. Miguel Tauro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hugo Guerra got free with Cornelio Villegas in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Spartans FC's Hugo Guerra slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cornelio Villegas. That made the score 1-0 after 45 minutes of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hugo Guerra to make the kick off. In the 51stth minute of the game Hugo Guerra who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cavaliers FC's Cornelio Villegas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 52 minutes Cavaliers FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Miguel Tauro who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Spartans FC's Amado Dagorret to fire away a dangerous shot which Cornelio Villegas despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Haroldas Strazdas was out of position in the 54 minute of play, and Sebastián Villa capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Sebastián Villa really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Sebastián Villa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Haroldas Strazdas having to make a save. 57 minutes into the match, Spartans FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastián Villa came free, but Haroldas Strazdas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 60th minute Hugo Guerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornelio Villegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cornelio Villegas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugo Guerra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cavaliers FC's Sebastián Villa got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cavaliers FC's Pastor Etxeberri was substituted for Teofilo Mikeldi. Haroldas Strazdas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcos Arano in the 90th minute of play. Pastor Etxeberri's late challenge caught a Spartans FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pastor Etxeberri helped the player get up and apologised. In the 91st minute, Pastor Etxeberri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pastor Etxeberri in the 93rd minute of play forced Spartans FC's goalkeeper Haroldas Strazdas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 94 played minutes Cavaliers FC got a freekick which was hit by Cecilio Feliz. Both players had fought hard during the second half to keep the score at 1-1. The tie meant more entertainment for the crowd as the match moved into extra-time.

The players didn't get much rest, but they still tried to pep each other up as they lined up for the first half in overtime. Cavaliers FC's Desiderio Rami started the play with his kick off. Haroldas Strazdas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcos Arano in the 101st minute of the match. Neither team seemed willing to take risks during extra-time and the defenses won out. The match would now go to a penalty shoot-out.
