After 9 played minutes, Minerul Baita -MM-'s Frank Miner shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Traian Pantea came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Minerul Baita -MM- reached it. In the 11th minute Ilie Ciociu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aurelian Vârlan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Minerul Baita -MM- getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Nicolae Mandache hit a great ball. The supporters of Ares FC -MM- booed when Minerul Baita -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tudor Hobjilă didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aurelian Vârlan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristinel Floroiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Minerul Baita -MM- getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Frank Miner hit a great ball. The supporters of Minerul Baita -MM- booed when Ares FC -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristinel Floroiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aurelian Vârlan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gigi Arosculesei in the 33rd minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, Anton Hurezan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aurelian Vârlan. Minerul Baita -MM-'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Anton Hurezan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 44 minutes into the match, Ares FC -MM-'s goal looked a bit too open when Cosmin Bobeica came free, but Traian Pantea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Minerul Baita -MM-'s Nicolae Mandache got a free kick in the 44th minute. After 46 minutes of play, Ares FC -MM-'s Ilie Ciociu made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Aurelian Vârlan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The wind increased when Anton Hurezan made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Minerul Baita -MM- getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Nicolae Mandache hit a great ball. Aurelian Vârlan made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Gigi Arosculesei sent off a good shot on target. In the 64th minute, Akim Miner hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aurelian Vârlan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gigi Arosculesei in the 65th minute. Traian Pantea didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nicolae Mandache went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Minerul Baita -MM-'s Corneliu Nae was substituted for Maxim Grecescu. In the 78th minute, Anton Hurezan reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Aurelian Vârlan. The goal made the score 1-3. Minerul Baita -MM- made a substitution. Albert Oncescu replaced Gică Aldulescu. Minerul Baita -MM- made a substitution. Ionuț Baran replaced Nicolae Mandache. Aurelian Vârlan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgil Turceanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 88th minute, Cornel Mihai ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Traian Pantea was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. After 92 played minutes Minerul Baita -MM- got a freekick which was hit by Ionuț Baran. Gigi Arosculesei received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Aurelian Vârlan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The Ares FC -MM- supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ares FC -MM- would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
