Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luis Andino in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roman Matai prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artaç Hendekli in the 28th minute of play. In the 30th minute, Artaç Hendekli hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When STAL ST WOLA's Michel Batistuta in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 46th minute of play forced STAL ST WOLA's goalkeeper Roman Matai to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
