It was joyful for the audience to see Hans Degeling dribbling past the opponents defense line in the 37th played minute and put the ball into the net. 1-0. After some careless play in the Lemel SV defense, Vinícius das Neves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Olivier Kahn. The Lemel SV fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olivier Kahn should have stopped the shot. In the 48th minute Virgílio Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olivier Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
