Sixten Nordström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Er Håland, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Poland's zone, Pelle Flinck stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gigi Buffon came out of the goal and Pelle Flinck tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With an all-out effort, U21 Sweden's Gigi Buffon threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Pelle Flinck, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Gigi Buffon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pelle Flinck in the 38th minute of the match. U21 Sweden's Pelle Flinck managed to work through U21 Poland's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Pelle Flinck dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Gigi Buffon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wiktor Kjellqvist in the 46th minute. Wiktor Kjellqvist came free with the goalkeeper in the 46th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Gigi Buffon could save by the left post. Karl-Erik Lind struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Gigi Buffon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Sweden. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Gigi Buffon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pelle Flinck, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The U21 Sweden fans' excitement grew in the 55th match minute when U21 Sweden's Wiktor Kjellqvist looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. U21 Sweden's Viggo Vassenius was substituted for Richard Tinglöv. U21 Poland made a substitution. Igor Andrychowski replaced Black Remi. U21 Poland's Radowit Bycofski was substituted for Er Håland. A sloppy throw-in by Igor Andrychowski in the 64th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by U21 Sweden's Ulrik Sjöberg. Chatziantoniou Anagnostopoulos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gigi Buffon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. The U21 Sweden fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. U21 Sweden were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
