Roque Vito scored 2-0 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of George Forsyth, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. CD Municipal's defense didn't have a chance, in the 20th minute, when Marco Cantona scored to the left of an out of position George Forsyth, making the score, 3-0. CD Municipal's Aureliano Buendia managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Lucrețiu Filipașcu in the 26 minute of the game. If Enrique Cassaretto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Vikingos FC's Sebastián Sosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Cassaretto in the 26th minute of play. George Forsyth made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marco Cantona in the 30th minute. In the 31st match minute, Vikingos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marek Torm to maneuver through the defense. In the 35th minute of the match, Marek Torm tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but George Forsyth saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

54 minutes into the match, CD Municipal's Enrique Cassaretto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sebastián Sosa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. CD Municipal's attentive Tulio Andinyach managed to snatch the ball when Lucrețiu Filipașcu made a throw-in in the 66th minute of the game. In the 75th minute, Enrique Cassaretto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CD Municipal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-4. Vikingos FC made a substitution. Ladislao Erramu replaced Marco Cantona. Vikingos FC's Luciano Lleir was substituted for Cássio Lopes. A sloppy throw-in by Lucas Huidobro in the 80th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Vikingos FC's Tarmo Kaare. Tulio Andinyach's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sebastián Sosa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 91 minutes, Enrique Cassaretto took a quick shot and it went in 4-5 without a chance for Sebastián Sosa to make any attempt to save it.

The Vikingos FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching CD Municipal's performance. The match ended with a win for CD Municipal.
