After 12 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Alcocer. Benjamim Mendes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Noboa in the 19th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Edu Gomes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Farroupilha FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Edu Gomes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Farroupilha FC getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Paulo José Furtado hit a great ball. Alexander Carballo hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Axel Tasis to strike the kick off in the second half. Alan Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Daniel Veiga hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Edu Gomes took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Conrado Sabóia went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edu Gomes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Conrado Sabóia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Angelo Amorim struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Farroupilha FC. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edu Gomes, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. With a little luck, Farroupilha FC's Benjamim Mendes got control of the ball when Lautaro Puig tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Alan Moruga fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Alan Moruga a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Alan Moruga hit a great ball. Eliseo Noboa hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angelo Amorim, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Juan Rubio got a free kick in the 86th minute. Edu Gomes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Angelo Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Farroupilha FC fully deserved thier win.
