Segundo Mattin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Axel Tasis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 9 played minutes CA Boca Jrs MdP got a freekick which was hit by Celedonio Palban. In the 20th minute Axel Tasis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Segundo Mattin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Costa Rica's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Axel Tasis in the 21st minute. Axel Tasis made a great header on Costa Rica's corner, it was just that CA Boca Jrs MdP's Segundo Mattin managed to reach the ball for a save. Axel Tasis's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Segundo Mattin - 0-1 was put on the score board in the 21st minute. Segundo Mattin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Axel Tasis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Urbano Boni came free in the 42nd minute and tried to tip the ball over Benito Sanz, but to the joy of Costa Rica's supporters the ball went over. Eloy Abastas kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Axel Tasis to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, CA Boca Jrs MdP's goalkeeper Segundo Mattin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Puig. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Tasis in the 53rd minute of play forced CA Boca Jrs MdP's goalkeeper Segundo Mattin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, CA Boca Jrs MdP's Segundo Mattin got control of the ball when Lautaro Puig tried to sneak it across the goal line. Segundo Mattin made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Axel Tasis sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Axel Tasis took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Segundo Mattin to make any attempt to save it. Axel Tasis struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Segundo Mattin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica.
