An unexpectedly hard shot by Basílio Lira in the 9th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mateo Leguizamo hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. 14 minutes into the game, Moises Fernandino cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Matheus Guimarães was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Abram Luque scored 0-2 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Matheus Guimarães, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Basílio Lira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ricardo Zorita was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. The supporters of El Salvador booed when Juvenil Sport Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Guilherme Penha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sebastião Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Zorita having to interfere. The El Salvador supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match.
