After a defensive mix-up in U. de Tarapacá's zone, Luis Andino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ariel Balboa came out of the goal and Luis Andino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orfilio Orbañanos in the 31st minute of play. After having played for 35 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 38th minute, Orfilio Orbañanos fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The audience was convinced that Orfilio Orbañanos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 45th minute of play forced U. de Tarapacá's goalkeeper Ariel Balboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 66 minutes into the match, U. de Tarapacá's goalkeeper Ariel Balboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. After 79 minutes, Yuan Zhen Lin made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastián Peredo in the 85th minute of the match. Ariel Balboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Yuan Zhen Lin in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. In the 93rdth minute of the game Yuan Zhen Lin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
