Lukács Galambos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Primitivo Escribano went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Jacobo Nores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maracanã Travieso in the 38th minute of the match. 41 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Maracanã Travieso came free, but Jacobo Nores reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 43 minutes into the game, Maracanã Travieso recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jacobo Nores. Maracanã Travieso showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-2. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

Paraguay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave La escuelita volvió! the free kick. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Maracanã Travieso came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the La escuelita volvió! fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maracanã Travieso couldn't finish the play. Anibal Egoi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 64th minute, Maracanã Travieso left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The La escuelita volvió! fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maracanã Travieso in the 70th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 86th minute, Maracanã Travieso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of La escuelita volvió! booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Escribano didn't get a good kick on the ball. During the 91st minute of the match Iker Tafalla completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Iker Tafalla a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 92 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Iker Tafalla. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Qiao Di Jian, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute.
