In the 11th minute, Holger Lindqvist ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Dan Sikström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Pontus Åhman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dan Sikström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 20th minute of the match. After 21 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. In the 46th minute, Hilario Dubardo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Ecuador were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Dan Sikström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 52nd minute. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Dan Sikström made a huge save. In the 62nd minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dan Sikström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juan Sebastián Puig's late challenge caught a Hammarby IF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juan Sebastián Puig helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 67th minute. Inge Valler, 67 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dan Sikström didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 85th minute, which inside left pole to 1-3. Holger Lindqvist recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Hammarby IF.
