Uruguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Seco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Monte Olimpo booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Seco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dacian Barbăneagră to make the kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Dacian Barbăneagră managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Monte Olimpo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dacian Barbăneagră was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pipo Inzaghi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 60th minute of the match, Francisco Seco got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nicolas Varela was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Joaquin Gayoso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Francisco Seco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pipo Inzaghi in the 76th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Monte Olimpo's zone, Maximiliano Escribano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicolas Varela came out of the goal and Maximiliano Escribano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alberto Gisbert during the 92nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
