In the 4th minute Zosimo Vadillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Cañizares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 5 minutes into the match, Papillon AC's goal looked a bit too open when Fernando Fidanza came free, but Jean Van Damme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Papillon AC defense, Fernando Fidanza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jean Van Damme. The Papillon AC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jean Van Damme should have stopped the shot. After 8 minutes of play, Papillon AC's Zosimo Vadillo made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Santiago Cañizares was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience was convinced that Felix Johans's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jean Van Damme was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. The supporters of Sentimiento Auriazul booed when Papillon AC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Medero Medina didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felix Johans in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jean Van Damme prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gustavo Birila fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santiago Cañizares having to interfere. Jean Van Damme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Johans in the 20th minute of play. In the 26th minute Emiliano Nardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Cañizares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Papillon AC's Jean Van Damme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Fidanza in the 29th minute of play. Fernando Fidanza scored 1-2 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jean Van Damme, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo Birila in the 34th minute of play forced Sentimiento Auriazul's goalkeeper Santiago Cañizares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Santiago Cañizares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zosimo Vadillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Felix Johans made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Sentimiento Auriazul getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Luisito Behe hit a great ball. Santiago Cañizares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sergio Jerano in the 57th minute of play. After 58 played minutes Papillon AC got a freekick which was hit by Astor Chinto. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
