The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 19th minute Medero Medina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmond Verdun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emílio Terra kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Gustavo Birila who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Edmond Verdun when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After having played for 28 minutes, Emílio Terra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Errecaborda AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emílio Terra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zosimo Vadillo in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edmond Verdun saved Errecaborda AFC from getting behind. Jean Van Damme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauro Rameriz in the 32nd minute of play. Errecaborda AFC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Emílio Terra in the 34th minute. Jean Van Damme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joe Tate, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo Birila in the 45th minute of play forced Errecaborda AFC's goalkeeper Edmond Verdun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Errecaborda AFC's Prospero Jerardo got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Gustavo Birila made the kick off in the second half. Edmond Verdun made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustavo Birila in the 56th minute of play. Papillon AC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gustavo Birila in the 57th minute. The corner ended in Gustavo Birila almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Errecaborda AFC's Edmond Verdun did a great save. The supporters of Errecaborda AFC booed when Papillon AC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Florin Lopatnicu didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 79th minute Sergio Jerano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmond Verdun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 79thth minute of the game Gustavo Birila who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Errecaborda AFC's Edmond Verdun was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Mauro Rameriz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Errecaborda AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Mauro Rameriz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jean Van Damme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Errecaborda AFC made a substitution. Hipolito Neron replaced Miguel Savion. 84 minutes into the match, Isidro Gines notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Papillon AC's Jean Van Damme. Jean Van Damme was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo Birila in the 88th minute of play forced Errecaborda AFC's goalkeeper Edmond Verdun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 90th minute of the match Papillon AC got a corner. Errecaborda AFC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gustavo Birila ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Papillon AC's Gustavo Birila to fire away a dangerous shot which Edmond Verdun despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Edmond Verdun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sergio Jerano, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Jean Van Damme made an important save on a dangerous shot by Isidro Gines in the 94th minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
