The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Tiberiu Caramarin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Felix Leahu was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Felix Leahu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiberiu Caramarin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. F.C. YKE's Felix Leahu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiberiu Caramarin in the 19th minute of play. Radu Sărăroiu kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Duman Enginsoy in the 22nd minute of play forced MIT's goalkeeper Calistrat Madgearu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. MIT's Calistrat Madgearu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save MIT from getting a goal against them. The supporters of MIT booed when F.C. YKE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duman Enginsoy didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, F.C. YKE's goal looked a bit too open when Tiberiu Caramarin came free, but Felix Leahu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. MIT's Calistrat Madgearu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save MIT from getting a goal against them. Calistrat Madgearu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mugur Ceaușescu in the 41st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in F.C. YKE's zone, Florin Seremet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Felix Leahu came out of the goal and Florin Seremet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Calistrat Madgearu was out of position in the 44 minute of play, and Traian Brăiloiu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Traian Brăiloiu really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Twan van Nistelrooij to make the kick off. MIT's Calistrat Madgearu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Traian Brăiloiu in the 52nd minute of play. Tiberiu Caramarin succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-3 in the 54th playminute. Felix Leahu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tiberiu Caramarin's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. In the 83rd minute of the match MIT got a corner. F.C. YKE's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ivan Vâtcă ran over to the corner to take the kick. Mihăiţă Ilarie hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. MIT's Calistrat Madgearu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Traian Brăiloiu in the 89th minute of play. MIT's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tiberiu Caramarin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The F.C. YKE manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing MIT to win.
