After 12 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Luca Rouco. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by German Cano in the 15th minute of play. A collision led to Marquês de Herval getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Gao Xiang Guang hit a great ball. Lorenzo Mendebal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience was convinced that Joel Gaona's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dida Taffarel was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Marquês de Herval's German Cano slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dante Lacasa. That made the score 1-1 after 34 minutes of play. In the 37th minute Facundo Cadaval shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dante Lacasa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Lautaro Mancebo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dida Taffarel firmly grabbed it by the left post. Luca Zorita kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match.
