The audience thought a goal was coming when Mincho Robledo got free with Rolando Noboa in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 83rd minute of the game. One of THE CLUB:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Peru:s goal. In the 86th match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Tenorio to maneuver through the defense. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rafael Gallo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rafael Gallo had several of the THE CLUB's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 98 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-2 score and a disappointed Guo Ling Nan as he didn't even see the shot coming. The Peru supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Peru would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
