After some careless play in the Venezia FC defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Amado Larra. The Venezia FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Amado Larra should have stopped the shot. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. 30 minutes into the match, Venezia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Amado Larra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 34 minutes, Bernabe Cidro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezia FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernabe Cidro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Santos Ferdinand stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Amado Larra. Venezia FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Clemente Rodriguez charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Clemente Rodriguez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Venezia FC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Clemente Rodriguez hit a great ball. Venezia FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 66th minute, when Luis Andino scored to the left of an out of position Amado Larra, making the score, 0-4. In the 69th minute, Arturo Cordera hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Amado Larra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ecuador's Luis Andino suffered a sore thigh after 81 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by JohnObi Mikel during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Amado Larra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Amado Larra made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 93rd minute. Ecuador played a much better game than Venezia FC and deserved their victory. The Venezia FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
