Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

FC Defenders's Wiktor Vallmark pulled a muscle in his back after 90 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Primitivo Andino during the 90th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. FC Defenders's Douglas Blom was substituted for Wiktor Vallmark. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but FC Defenders were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
