Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) After 3 minutes of play, Celtic FC's Nicolas Froila made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Nicolas Froila sent off a good shot on target. Bernd Goorts fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Celtic FC's Jacinto Abaunza got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sebastián Junes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Celtic FC's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Sebastián Junes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Celtic FC's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sebastián Junes came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Lugo in the 38th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Celtic FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Celtic FC's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Celtic FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ted Ambjörnsson to maneuver through the defense. In the 56thth minute of the game Isidoro Lugo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 57 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ted Ambjörnsson who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Celtic FC's corner Ted Ambjörnsson fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. Sebastián Junes made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. 63 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Nicolas Froila came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 69th minute after Celtic FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The supporters of Celtic FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 72nd minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. In the 77th minute, Ted Ambjörnsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Celtic FC's Sebastián Junes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Celtic FC from getting a goal against them. 86 minutes into the game, Bernd Goorts was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Celtic FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Celtic FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernd Goorts didn't get a good kick on the ball. 92 minutes into the game, Felix Montenegro recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Sebastián Junes. Felix Montenegro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-4. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
