Tomas Lain's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, Harsh Gods's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Gersi Snabe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 10th minute of play forced Harsh Gods's goalkeeper Gersi Snabe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gersi Snabe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 11th minute of the match. Felix Montenegro hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. In the 21st minute, Tomas Lain ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Gersi Snabe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 24th minute of play. In the 25th minute, Tomas Lain got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Octavio Froylan in the 30th minute of play. If Octavio Froylan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Lain got free with Julio Vera in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gersi Snabe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 43rd minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gersi Snabe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Agustín Saelices recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gersi Snabe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 60th minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Agustín Saelices heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Lain in the 63rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Octavio Froylan in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luis Andino couldn't finish the play. Agustín Saelices charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Agustín Saelices the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Agustín Saelices hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew the final whistle, Harsh Gods could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
