Gonzalo Lixandro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lisandro Festas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Lisandro Festas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raimundo Ventura in the 21st minute of play. 22 minutes into the match, SLB TELHA's goal looked a bit too open when Raimundo Ventura came free, but Lisandro Festas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Qiu Chuan Ran didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Patrik Beaton went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. SLB TELHA's Lisandro Festas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonzalo Lixandro in the 26th minute of play. In the 27th minute, Hildeberto Cortez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lisandro Festas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodolfo Faria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s goalkeeper Qiu Chuan Ran, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lisandro Festas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodolfo Faria, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s zone, Patrik Beaton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Qiu Chuan Ran came out of the goal and Patrik Beaton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute, SLB TELHA's Hugo Tomé seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Hugo Tomé the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of SLB TELHA protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Hugo Tomé had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 46th minute, one of SLB TELHA:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SLB TELHA. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
