Ivo Guterres made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gonzalo Lixandro in the 21st minute. When Nuno Bragança came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the SC Freiburg 09 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nuno Bragança couldn't finish the play. Claudemiro Madureira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. In the 35th minute Nuno Bragança shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Qiu Chuan Ran saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ivo Guterres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Faria in the 37th minute of play. With a little luck, SC Freiburg 09's Ivo Guterres got control of the ball when Rodolfo Faria tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 44 played minutes Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. got a freekick which was hit by Witold Piszczor.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Raul Leal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The corner ended in Raul Leal almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Qiu Chuan Ran did a great save. In the 71st minute, David Martínez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 72nd minute of the match Rodolfo Faria sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ivo Guterres skillfully saved the ball. 78 minutes into the game, Gonzalo Lixandro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Ivo Guterres was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 82nd minute, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Abílio Passos fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Abílio Passos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 90 minutes into the game, Nuno Bragança was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Freiburg 09's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. the free kick. After 90 played minutes SC Freiburg 09 got a freekick which was hit by Nuno Bragança. In the 91st minute of the match Rodolfo Faria sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ivo Guterres skillfully saved the ball. Qiu Chuan Ran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nuno Bragança in the 92nd minute of play. In the 96th minute, Gonzalo Lixandro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
